1 module is faulty. BMS_a079 / d265 error is active – charging is limited to 50% (safety mode). 1 module needs to be replaced and the battery balanced. There is no need to replace the entire battery (the entire battery pack).

Tesla Model 3 HV battery pack has 4 full modules.
1 module = approximately 1/4 of the entire battery pack.
1 module contains about 25 "bricks" / cell groups.
One cell group ("brick") in 1 module is faulty, so the BMS detects a voltage / health mismatch and triggers the BMS_a079 / d265 protection.
Because of this, the car limits charging to 50%.
This does not necessarily mean that the entire HV battery needs to be replaced.


The entire HV battery pack is removed from the car.
The battery casing is opened.
The entire 1 module is removed, not an individual "brick".
A good used, compatible 1 module is installed.
The battery is closed and properly sealed.
Cell/module balancing and BMS procedures are performed.
It is verified whether the BMS_a079 / d265 error has disappeared and if normal charging is restored.
